Dr. Zomalt is an expert in the theory and the practice of collaborative leadership. He was mentored as a collaborative leadership scholar and practitioner by author, professor and business partner, Joesph C. Rost Ph.D. Dr. Rost is an unsung pioneer in the field of 21st century leadership and management. He inaugurated the University of San Diego School of Leadership and Educational Sciences in the seventies which contributed to the professionalization of leadership studies in North America. Dr. Zomalt’s vision and intent is to provide leadership that help organizations, communities, families and individuals to flourish through the achievement of transformative objectives.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Zomalt began his professional career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and subsequently received his deploma in Human Services at the University of Southern California, School of Medicine, Division of Social and Community Psychiatry. He received his undergraduate degree in Sociology at Pepperdine University, School of Professional Studies.  His Masters of Social Work degree is from the University of Southern California School of Social Work, Division of Community Organization, Administration and Planning. Dr. Zomalt was initially trained and privileged in Los Angeles, California as Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He received his doctorate degree from the University of San Diego, School of Leadership and Educational Sciences.

Dr. Zomalt has extensive background in areas of medical, mental health and substance abuse. Substance abuse experience includes both inpatient and outpatient detoxification and rehabilitation treatment including methadone detoxification and maintenance. He is a SMART Recovery addiction self-management facilitator. Dr. Zomalt is a psychotherapist specializing in cognitive behavioral crisis services and brief therapy for children, adolescents and their caregivers. Among clinical accomplishments include: President of the San Diego County, Mental Health Services Clinical Staff Association, 1991.

Dr. Zomalt has held several unique positions in executive management: Clinical Director, Institute for the Advancement of Human Services in Los Angeles County; San Diego County Mental Health Services, Regional Manager for 2 of 5 County Mental Health Catchment Areas; Assistant Director City and County of San Francisco Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services, also, concurrently held position of Executive Director, San Francisco Famaly Mosaic Program; Director, Department of Child and Family Services, Fresno County. Concurrently served as Director, County Child Welfare Services and, Director, County Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services and, County Commissioner, First-5. He retired from the California County Civil Service System in 2006.

Since 2006, Dr. Zomalt has been in private practice as a psychotherapist and behavioral health consultant working with non-profit organizations and public organization. His multifacited background and interests is complimenary to innovative clients who intend to serve humanity through the pursuit of excellence.

Dr. Zomalt is the recipient of recognition as Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges 1977- 1978, University of Pepperdine; Outstanding Administrator Award, 2004, California State Foster Parent Association; 2005 Friend the Youth Award, Jim Costa member of Congress, 20 Congressional District, California Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition; 2005, Man of the Year, Charles S Poohigian, California State Senate, Certificate of Recognition Award.
